Katha Kathmandu, a feature film written and directed by Sangeeta Shrestha, was announced during a press conference held at the Moods Restaurant, Thapathali, in the Capital, on Monday. Produced by Bijay Rai, the film features an ensemble cast comprising Priyanka Karki, Pramod Agrahari, Ayushman Desraj Joshi, Sanjog Koirala, Sandhya KC and Prekshya Adhikari, among others.

The event was inaugurated by President of Nepal Film Developement Board Raj Kumar Rai.

Filmed under the banner of Aahana Films, Katha Kathmandu is director Sangeeta Shrestha’s debut feature directorial.

Speaking to the Post, director Shrestha said, “Katha Kathmandu is an amalgation of three different intricate, yet inter-related, stories, which feature life-size characters. It’s a great social drama.”

Meanwhile, one of lead characters, Priyanka Karki, said, “The role I’m playing is a difficult character to portray, different from any I’ve played on screen so far. What drew me to the film was the character, each of us can relate to it.” The event concluded with encouraging words from Bijaya Rai, the film’s producer, and his wish for success and prosperity of the film. The shooting of the film is scheduled to start from March 8, marking International Women’s Day.
