Mahendrapul Art Gallery in Pokhara is currently hosting a solo art exhibit—titled The Beautiful and the Sublime-featuring works of artist Bishworaj Parajuli. The exhibit features 52 watercolour paintings by Parajuli which depict nature, human behaviour, lifestyle and culture.
“Water colours are very hard to work with. The flow of the colour is hard to control and if an artist tries to restrict the flow, the painting will not be good. When an artist works with water colours they need to let the colours flow in its own rhythm and try to control the shape,” said veteran artist Durga Baral during the exhibit. He added, “Bishworaj has done that brilliantly. I came across his paintings 14 years ago and am always captivated by his control over his craft.”
Speaking at the exhibition, Parajuli, who is a professor by profession, said, “I love painting so I try to make time out of my work and paint.” He added, “I don’t like to talk much about my paintings but rather hear from people about it.”
Similarly, Vice Chancellor of Pokhara University, Chiranjibi Sharma, who inaugurated the exhibition, said, “The works by Parajuli are really good. Despite art and paintings not being his profession, his dedication towards his craft is very inspirational.”
The exhibit will run till Thursday.
