A travel photo exhibit and musical show, titled Yatri 2.0 by Kaushal Raj Sapkota, which aimed to raise funds for cataract surgeries ended this week by generating a total of Rs 183,600 for the cause.
A high-school educator, traveller and an ardent photographer, Sapkota put up the exhibit at Bikalpa Art Center with a total of 30 photographs from his travels through different parts of Nepal, India, Pakistan, USA and Japan. The exhibit also included select pictures by photographers Mahesh Dahal, Pradeep Bashyal and Jaya Jung Mahat.
Yatri 2.0, as the name suggests, was an amalgamation of photographs of journeys, of the physical and of the mind.
The photographs explored themes ranging from life and love to childhood and time. At the event, Sapkota also paid tribute to the poet Kahlil Gibran by putting up snippets of his poems and quotes alongside each photograph, bringing out the true essence of the pictures put on display.
“Kahlil Gibran has affected my choices in life in ways I cannot imagine. This was a small effort from my side to glorify his works,” said Sapkota.
The show was initiated with the goal of raising Rs 150,000 for the Make Me See—a cause that works to provide free eye check up services and cataract surgeries to the underprivileged, particularly children and the elderly at Sagarmatha Chaudhry Eye Hospital in Lahan.
