Gorkha Mahotsav in full swing

The fifth day of the ninth Gorkha Mohotsav turned into a musical gala as a host of singers took to stage. The day which started with a performance by veteran folk singer Purushottam Neupane ended with a folk song competition.
Neupane started off with one of his most popular songs, Maha Mauri Ko, Dhudh Mitho Chauri Ko, and along the way sang more than half a dozen songs. Neupane reminded the audience about the painful memories of Maoist insurgency and the 2015 earthquake with his songs, and also sang his song Sarara Pani Ghatta Ma, citing the hardship of soldiers. He wrapped up his performance with the song Runcha Ni Mann Kina Rudaina.
Later, popular folk singer of the region, Bhedi Kharke Maila took the stage and entertained the audience with his songs based on thado bhaka.
Also performing at the event were Dirgha Bahadur Adhikari, and Pashupati Sharma, among others.
The event also saw comedy performances by actors Marichman Shrestha and Raju Poudel.
According to organisers the Mahotsav has been a huge success, and has been visited by more than ten thousand audiences on a daily basis.
