In line with the ever-increasing popularity of DIY (do-it-yourself)—a method of modifying the things to give them an aesthetic value—among Nepali artists and art enthusiasts, a festival concerning this method, dubbed Sine Valley Festival, is slated to open in the Capital, starting this Thursday.
The festival, being organised by a collective of experimental electronic music producers, and artists, from Nepal, Maldives, India and Pakistan, will feature a host of musical acts from Nepal and overseas.
The fest, according to the organisers, seeks to “showcase and highlight a musical realm beyond the idea of genres and rules to define a sound.”
Performing during the fest will be acts such as Flekke (a duo of Irina Giri and Pranav Narayan Manandhar; from Nepal); Anaasir (Rajan Shrestha and Daniel Arthur Panjwaneey); Zeromile (Ranzen Jha and Chandresha Pandey); Autonome (Mohamed Manal); GnirehsT (Tshering Sherpa); Phatcowlee (Rajan Shrestha); Alien Panda Jury (Daniel Arthur Panjwaneey); and Ranzen (Ranzen Jha).
The four-day fest will commence with a show at Base Camp: Outdoor Lifestyle, in Lalitpur, that will see performances by Flekke, Zeromile, Phatcowlee and Alien Panda Jury. The fest will then, in consecutive days, move to venues such as House of Music, RS Moto, Club 25 Hours, and will draw to a close with a show at The Yellow House, on Nov 13.
