Namaste Nepal
Twenty years from now, we’ll be more disappointed with those things we did not do in life, than with those we did.Ashutosh Agrawal
Twenty years from now, we’ll be more disappointed with those things we did not do in life, than with those we did.” These wise words by Mark Twain resonate within me. This one life we have should be enjoyed to its fullest. No one knows what tomorrow may bring, so live your life today.
Life for me is travelling. A few weeks ago, I went on a family trip to the UAE. A city in the United Arab Emirates, Dubai, is known for its luxury shopping, ultramodern architecture and lively nightlife scene. Landmark tourist attractions such as Dubai’s towering Burj Khalifa, and Abu Dhabi’s modern Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, have branded the UAE as the ultimate luxury destination. Going to Burj Al Arab, Palm Jumeira, Dubai Creek, Dubai Museum, Jumeira beach, Dubai Mall, Marina Mall was a fantastic experience! Learning about their customs and culture gave you an insight in their way of life. After my short trip, I returned home to beautiful Nepal.
Nepal, with its different cultures and tradition, is a mecca for wanderers, and no less than Duabi as a tourist destination. With more than a 100 different castes and societies living peacefully together, Nepal is a heaven of sorts where different cultures come together.
Kathmandu Valley possesses several historical monuments, old palaces and Durbar Square, shrines and temples, ageless traditions and legends; all making it a lively museum that any visitor would cherish in his/her heart for ever. Nepal is the land of Lord Pashupatinath, the holiest Hindu temple in the world. We also have Buddhist pilgrimage sites like Swayambhunath and BouddhnathStupa; where people from all over the world come to visit.Out of the 14 eight-thousanders in the world, eight of these gigantic mountains are located in Nepal. We are the land of the Sagarmatha, the highest peak in the world. Trekking is the best way to experience life in the mountains. Pokhara, the lake city of Nepal, provides ample opportunities for fishing, swimming, canoeing, boating, cycling, bunjee jumping, paragliding, along with sightseeing of majestic panoramic views. Places around the valley like Nagarkot, Sundarijal, Dhulikhel, Godavari, Jhor and many others also offer natural beauty to please the traveller in you.
One can enjoy the nightlife in the glowing streets of Thamel and buy Thankas, handicrafts, handmade bags, gift items and many more as mementos of the love and tradition of Nepal. Wherever you go, wide smiles will always be there to greet you. We, Nepalis, are not the type of people to sit and dwell in trouble. Even after the devastating earthquake, we are proactive in rebuilding what we lost and reviving the tourism industry.
This is the time to rebuild Nepal. It’s a time when Nepal needs visitors, more than ever. It is time to welcome guests with our warm ‘Namaste!’ and dazzle them with our charm.
