Theatre Village is gearing up to stage its new production Makai ko Arkai Kheti (A Different Cultivation of Maize), a play penned by Sanjeev Uprety.
Directed and designed by Bimal Subedi, the play deals with issues such as authorial freedom, techniques of rewriting and political freedom. With its dark comedy and crisp writing, the play is expected to provide a novel experience to theatregoers.
The play is a reinterpretation of the 19th century play Makai ko Kheti, written by Krishna Lal Adhikari. The play, now conceptualised to fit the contemporary world, is a political satire masked as a simple agricultural manual.
The production is currently underway and the play is set to be staged starting November 26 at the Theatre Village, Lazimpat.
