Patricia Arquette's relationship with artist Eric White is going strong, but the actress is "terrified" at the thought of marrying for a third time.

The “Boyhood” actress, who was previously married to Nicolas Cage and Thomas Jane, insists that she and the artist won't exchange rings because she doesn't want to deal with the pain of another break-up, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

“I'm terrified of the institution of marriage. The failure of a marriage is a very personal, painful thing to come to - it's not just like breaking up, it is really painful," she said.

The actress noted that she and White have a "very ordinary" life together as she has no desire to be part of the "Hollywood scene".
