Bipana Sharma was crowned the first Glocal Teen Hero 2015 during the finale held at the hotel de l’ Annapurna on Tuesday.
Bipana Sharma was crowned the first Glocal Teen Hero 2015 during the finale held at the hotel de l’ Annapurna on Tuesday.
Sharma, a 17-year-old teen from Nawalparasi, will now act as the brand ambassador of Glocal Pvt Ltd and will also be given the opportunity of job-shadowing popular personalities from various walks of life. The organisers also plan to feature Sharma in a documentary.
The event, organised by Glocal Khabar in strategic alliance with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, accepted 98 applications from teenagers all around the country, among whom six were selected for the finale by a jury panel comprising personalities such as Anil Keshary Shah, CEO of Mega Bank; CA member Gagan Thapa; Narottam Aryal, executive director of King’s College; singer Samriddhi Rai; and Saurav Jyoti, director of the Jyoti Group. The judges then interviewed the finalists individually to get a glimpse of their personality, domain knowledge and vision.
The finale also saw the presence of actors Rajesh Hamal and Nischal Basnet, among others.
“It is a privilege to be a part of the Glocal Teen Hero 2015 and to recognise the best amongst these exceptional teens,” said Anil Keshary Shah, speaking during the event.
The sole purpose of this event is to motivate Nepali teenagers to follow their dreams and to develop entrepreneurial and social thinking abilities that will help in the sustainable development of our nation, said the organisers.
