On Sunday, August 30, a programme was organised to commemorate late writer Parijat (Bishnu Kumari Waiba).

The programme was chaired by the chief of Parijat Smriti Kendra Laxmi Mali. During the programme singer Rayan offered a rendition of his song.

During the event, Parijat Smriti Kendra awarded various artists. Among the award recipents  were Singer Jivan Sharma (Parijat Kala Samman), Writer Sharada Raman Nepal (Parijat Bal Sahitya award), and Poet and Critic Pursottam Shrestha (Parijat Srijana Samman).

In addition, Mithaidevi Bishwokarma was awarded with the Parijat Sangharsasheel Naari Samman. Rayan and Mali handed over certificates, garlands and cash prize of Rs 10,000 to the award winners.

The commemoration programme takes place every year on Parijat’s birthday but this year it was postponed due to the quakes.
