Austrian artists Mariana de Meo and Roman Maria Müller performed a pantomime on Thursday at Patan Museum. The event, organised by the Austrian Embassy in New Delhi, aimed to enhance people-to-people relations and foster mutual understanding between Austria and Nepal through the medium of art and culture.
This cultural initiative is expected to add a new dimension to the strong ties between Austria and Nepal. “Diplomacy goes beyond politics and economics; it also flourishes through cultural exchange, building understanding and strengthening friendships between nations,” says the Austrian Honorary Consul in Nepal, Rajesh Babu Shrestha. He further emphasised that such programs are crucial in fostering knowledge of each other’s cultural identities and Austria's commitment to its friendship with Nepal.
The Manakamana Cable Car sponsored the event and was supported by the Honorary Austrian Consulate in Nepal. Michael Pal, director of the Austrian Cultural Forum at the Austrian Embassy in New Delhi, and his wife, Irena Pal, attended the performance.
Pantomime, a theatrical performance, conveys stories through facial expressions and body language.
The Austrian Embassy has organised several cultural exchange programs and will continue to do so.
