In memory of Puran Khadka
NAFA is hosting a solo exhibition featuring the late artist’s works.Post Report
A solo exhibition featuring the works of the late artist Puran Khadka, a prominent figure in modern abstract art, opened on Tuesday at the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA). Inaugurating the exhibition titled ‘Sutrapathdekhi Sampurnata’, NAFA Chancellor Naradamani Hartamchali expressed his intention to pay tribute to art creators and their creations. Emphasising the importance of cultural understanding within the art community, he called for global discussions on art.
Likewise, NAFA Vice Chancellor Lal Kaji Lama announced the institution's commitment to organising similar programmes in the future, featuring renowned personalities like Khadka. Art analyst Mukesh Malla stressed the significance of maintaining records of artists, while Thakur Prasad Mainali, the former vice-chancellor and senior sculptor of the academy, remembered Khadka as a talented, principled artist.
Folk culture researcher Dhwaja Bahadur Kunwar expressed gratitude for the institution’s commemoration of Khadka through the ‘Sutrapatdekhi Sampurnata’ programme. Concluding the event, Sanjay Bantawa Rai, head of the contemporary painting department, thanked all the participating artists and the family of Khadka.
The exhibition will be open to the public until December 14.
