Boss takes pay cut for employees, gets his dream car as token of thanks
Employees of Gravity Payments fulfilled the dream of their boss after he raised the minimum wage to $70,000 a year by taking a pay cut himself in April of 2015. And his own dream? 120 employees took care of that by saving a month's salary each to gift Dan Price a shiny blue Tesla Model S electric car.The Times Of India
Bosses around the world are usually perceived to be demanding and stern figures responsible for making you sweat it out for every cent you earn. That may well be a blatant standardization - one that employees of a Seattle-based credit card processing company would vehemently disagree with.
In a world where people look to fulfill their dreams courtesy big salary hikes, employees of Gravity Payments fulfilled the dream of their boss after he raised the minimum wage to $70,000 a year by taking a pay cut himself in April of 2015. And his own dream? 120 employees took care of that by saving a month's salary each to gift Dan Price a shiny blue Tesla Model S electric car - one that he had always wanted to get for himself.
For the 120 employees, gifting their boss, who is also the youngest-ever CEO of Gravity Payments at 32, his dream machine was a way of expressing gratitude for what most business leaders around the world won't do. For Price though, taking a pay cut was always a small price to pay. "It's not about making money, it's about making a difference," he had said in an interview. And while he did his part, his employees too ensured they made a difference of their own - for him.
Price was visibly emotional in a video showing the moment his employees took him out and presented him with the Tesla. The video has since gone viral. Here's hoping the deed(s) go viral too.
