A sudden flood carrying mud, rocks and debris surged down the Budhigandaki river in Chumnubri Rural Municipality-6, northern Gorkha, on Sunday, damaging riverside settlements, bridges and hydropower infrastructure.
The flood left a trail of destruction along the river corridor, disrupting lives and threatening access to remote communities. Photographs taken at Arughat on Monday morning capture the aftermath, with the scale of the damage becoming clearer a day after the river rose unexpectedly.
