The Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur is undergoing a final round of upgrades and maintenance ahead of the third edition of the Nepal Premier League, with the tournament due to begin in about three weeks.
The Cricket Association of Nepal said it was addressing management issues reported during previous editions and improving facilities for spectators, players, journalists and VIP guests.
CAN aims to complete all remaining work by the Dashain festival and have the venue fully ready for the tournament.
Large crowds are expected for NPL matches, prompting organisers to make maximum use of the available space and increase spectator capacity where possible. The focus is on making the entire experience smoother, from entering the ground after buying a ticket to leaving after the match.

Last season, spectators complained about inadequate toilets and dusty access routes. CAN said those problems would be addressed this year, while several new structures are also being added to improve overall management.
The tournament will be held between Dashain and Tihar, two of Nepal’s biggest festivals. Although organisers expect the holiday period could affect attendance, they believe the country’s strong cricket following will keep crowds coming.
CAN said the dates were set after considering the international cricket calendar, the schedules of other franchise leagues and the availability of overseas players. The period between Dashain and Tihar was considered the most suitable after taking those factors into account.

Teams competing in the third edition are also stepping up recruitment of internationally known players. Organisers expect the participation of foreign stars to raise the tournament’s appeal and bring more fans to the ground.
The chance to watch players normally seen on television in person at Kirtipur is expected to add to the excitement and further boost the popularity of the league.
The third edition of the Nepal Premier League will run from October 26 to November 21.
