A demonstration was held in Kathmandu on Sunday in support of Kulman Ghising, former managing director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), who was dismissed by the government last month.
The demonstration, organised by the Kulman Ghising reinstatement joint struggle committee, saw participation from various unions, organisations, and the general public.
The rally included Buddhist monks, and protesters chanted slogans condemning his removal, calling it unjust and disgraceful.

The government dismissed Ghising from the key post in NEA and replaced him with Hitendra Dev Shakya on March 24.
Ghising is credited with taking initiatives to end hours-long power cuts and running the NEA more efficiently after years of mismanagement and financial losses.
Ghising moved the Supreme Court against his dismissal. Though he sought an interim order against the government move, the top court didn’t stay the decision. The case is sub-judice.
