Devotees thronged various shrines of Shiva on Thursday on the occasion of Kushe Aunsi.
As a part of the festival, Hindu devotees were seen performing various rituals at the Mahadev Temple premises in Gokarnershwar and Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu.
Also known as Gokarne Aunshi, the festival, as per the Bikram Sambat calendar, is marked on the day of Bhadra Krishna Aunsi, when thousands of devotees visit various Mahadev temples to pay respect to their fathers and offer prayers.
Kushe Aunsi is also observed as “Buwa Ko Mukh Herne Din”, or Father’s day, and people offer gifts to their fathers.
It is customary for those who do not have fathers to gather at the temple and offer pinda on this day.
