Hari Budha Magar, the first double above-the-knee amputee to scale Mount Everest, received a hero’s welcome in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
Magar was welcomed by a group of people including the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Sudan Kirati.
The 43-year-old Gurkha army veteran summited the 8,848.86-metre peak on artificial legs on Friday.
In April 2010, Magar stepped on an improvised explosive device and lost his legs, both above the knee, in addition to sustaining multiple other injuries while he was deployed in Afghanistan.
Here are some photos captured by the Post photojournalist Sanjog Manandhar.
