A massive fire broke out in Bhotebahal-11 in Teku on Monday.
The fire started at around 3:30pm in an electrical shop owned by one Swatantra Rijal, according to police. Police have said an electrical short circuit is the cause behind the structural fire.
A large number of security personnel and firefighters have been deployed to the incident site. They are currently trying to bring the inferno under control with the help of the locals.
“So far there are no human casualties. Security forces and firefighters are rescuing people from the incident site,” said Anil Ghimire, deputy superintendent of police at Kalimati Police Station. “The damage caused by the fire is yet to be assessed.”
Plumes of smoke can be seen rising from the incident site choking the immediate neighbourhood, he said.
“We have called more fire brigades from Kathmandu and Lalitpur,” said Ghimire.
