Supporters of Dr Govinda KC, who has been staging an indefinite hunger strike seeking reforms in country's medical education and health sector, and police personnel clashed in New Baneshwor on Friday.
Members of Bibeksheel Nepali Party had organised a rally, which would head towards the parliament building, to submit the copy of the agreement forged between the government and Dr KC during the latter’s 15th hunger strike.
Dr KC is on the 17th day of his 16th hunger strike seeking reforms in the country's medical education sector.
According to Bibeksheel Nepali Party leader Milan Pandey, 18 party members were arrested from outside the parliament building and are being detained at Bhrikutimandap-based Nepal Police Club.
Likewise, the police also intervened in the demonstration staged by Independent Civil Society in front of the No 1 gate of the parliament. The police have detained several protesters from the site as well.
