KC was arrested from TUTH premises on Monday after the Supreme Court issued an order to arrest him. He had begun his fast-unto-death demanding resignation of Chief Justice Gopal Prasad Parajuli, who, in an order, directed Tribhuvan University to reinstate ousted Institute of Medicine (IoM) dean Dr Sashi Sharma.
Netra Bandhu Poudyal, a section officer at the SC, had filed the contempt of court writ at the SC claiming KC had defamed the judiciary. Responding to the writ, a single bench of SC Justice Dambar Bahadur Shahi had directed the police to present Dr KC before the court claiming that Dr KC’s “indecent” statements had tarnished the image of the judicial system, judiciary and judges.
