Clean-up campaigns go on in various parts of Capital

Marking the 234th week of the Bagmati Mega Clean-up Campaign, participants extracted 10 metric tons of solid waste from the Bagmati river near the Shantinagar area on Saturday.
Over 600 people, including representatives from the security agencies, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, the High Powered Committee for Integrated Development of the Bagmati Civilisation and Tilganga Women Group as well as club members took part in the clean-up programme.
Similarly, the Guheshwari Clean-up Campaign entered its 194th week on Saturday. Campaigners removed two metric ton of solid waste from Hanuman Ghat and the Gothatar bridge area.
Over 100 people participated in the event.
Likewise, over 200 volunteers took part in the Rudramati Clean-up Campaign as it entered its 111th week. Two metric ton of solid waste was extracted from the area according to Dal Bahadur Karki, Ward 30 chairperson of the KMC.
Meanwhile, two metric ton of solid waste was extracted from the Bishnumati river as the clean-up drive reached it 162nd week on Saturday. Over 250 volunteers took part in the campaign, according to a campaigner Bijendra Lama.
Cleaning of Manohara River also continued on Saturday as the clean-up drive entered its 32nd week.
Two metric tons of solid waste was taken out from the Hanumante confluence near the BP Eye Hospital.
Similarly, locals also participated in the Ring Road Clean-up Campaign on Saturday as it marked its 30th week. Twenty-four metric ton of solid waste between Gongabu Chowk and the Basundhara area was managed. The campaign saw participation of over 350 people.
Clean-up campaigns were organised in other parts of the city as well.
