Assuming office after taking the oath from President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Monday, Parajuli said he would implement the 39-point action plan for making the judiciary more effective, fairer and faster.
Courts would be converted into smart courts using new technologies with an aim to save people’s time and hassles for accessing justice.
During the parliamentary hearing on Sunday, lawmakers appreciated his plan to provide judicial “service with smile”. The Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee had unanimously endorsed his name. He also said judges were ready to work extra hours to make justice delivery faster. Parajuli was appointed the acting chief justice when Sushila Karki retired on June 6. Parajuli will lead the Supreme Court until April 29, 2018.
President Bhandari administered the oath of office and secrecy to Parajuli at Sheetal Niwas. The function was attended by Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Speaker Onasari Gharti, among other constitutional position holders.
