Kathmandu

Police have launched an investigation after a mass grave of 17 breed dogs were found at Chovar in the Capital on Tuesday.

According to Sneha’s Care, an animal rescue organisation, most of the dogs seemed to have succumbed to disease as there were bandages and Canola for saline.

The members of the organisation said that they came across the dead bodies while feeding the strays in that area in the afternoon. They further said that some of the bodies that were thrown from a cliff were stuck in the nearby trees and some had started decomposing. It has been suspected that the canines were ditched at the site a few days ago.

The abandoned carcasses have been buried and a complaint has been lodged with the police and investigation into the matter is underway.
