Khem Raj Gurung, singer of popular Nepali folk song ‘Wari Jamuna Pari Jamuna’ passed away on Thursday, while undergoing treatment at the Chabahil-based Medicare Hospital. He was 42.

Gurung was admitted to the hospital 10 days ago for the treatment of jaundice. Hospital declared his death at 5.30pm, his contemporary singer Kamali Kanta Bhetwal. “We lost a talented singer,” said Bhetwal.

Although his family members wanted to airlift him to Delhi for treatment, doctors attending to him advised against it considering critical condition he was in. He was kept on a ventilator. Gurung is survived by his wife and two daughters.
