The Kathmandu Post Career Edufair kicked off in Bhrikuti Mandap, Kathmandu on Friday.
The Kathmandu Post Career Edufair kicked off in Bhrikuti Mandap, Kathmandu on Friday. The three -day gala event was inaugurated by Chief Secretary Somlal Subedi amid a programme.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Subedi said this kind of education fair in inevitable for upgrading the quality of education in the country. “Education is the only tool with which country can go for prosperity, and we have to give more emphasis for quality education within the country,” said Subedi adding that events like Career Edufair is a platform for information and knowledge sharing for the students.
Expressing his concern over brain drain Subedi said, “We have to stop this trend by providing better opportunity to the educated people within the country.” Kantipur Media Group (KMG) Chairman and Managing Director Kailash Sirohiya
and Kantipur Publications AGM Mahesh Swar were also present in the inaugural ceremony. “Our aim is to give the best output for career development for an upcoming generation and coming here they can get the kind of counseling they
want,”said Swar adding that only educated society can lead the country towards development.
Over 150 domestic and international colleges, universities and educational consultancies are taking part in the fair. According to organizers, there are a total of 130 stalls and 13 pavilions in the fair.
The Career Edufair, which is a calendar programme of the Kantipur Media Group, has been held regularly since 2012 except for 2015 when it was disrupted by the devastating earthquake. The fourth edition is managed by Array International. Supported by various domestic colleges and consultancies, it aims to draw around 100,000 visitors in three days.
On the first day of the gala also saw the motivational seminar and life skill development programme. Meanwhile, Nepal's First Rapper Girish Khatiwada entertained students with his music.
