An all-party meeting has begun at Prime Minister KP Oli's official residence in Baluwatar.
According to PM's press coordinator, Chetan Adhikari, 30 political parties represented in the Legislature-Parliament have been summoned to discuss the formation of political mechanism to resolve the dispute over federal state borders.
Prior to this, Prime Minister KP Oli held a meeting of three major parties—Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and UCPN (Maoist)—at Baluwatar.
The members of joint taskforce from three parties formed to hold talks with agitating Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha (SLMM) were also present at the meeting.
A source privy to the development said that the meeting discussed PM Oli’s upcoming visit to India and formation of a political mechanism to settle the row over federal state demarcation raised by Madhesi Morcha.
Earlier today, a meeting of taskforce comprising representatives from major parties and Madhesi Morcha decided to form the mechanism by Sunday. The mechanism is likely to forge understanding, before PM’s India visit, on settling the state demarcation row within three months.
Present in the meeting are UML leaders Jhalanath Khanal, Madhav Nepal, NC leaders Ram Chandra Poudel, Sher Bahadur Deuba and UCPN (M) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
Likewise taskforce members Mahesh Acharya from NC, Bhim Rawal from UML and Dinanath Sharma from UCPN (M) are also present at the meeting. Sharma is substituting Krishna Bahadur Mahara, who is the taskforce member.
