Twenty-nine prominent figures who were summoned last Sunday have to submit property details within two weeks of receiving the official form.
“All those summoned by the CIAA have collected the 13-pager form to submit their property details within the given time. And they are told to submit the form within two weeks,” said CIAA Spokesperson Krishna Hari Pushkar.
Last week, CIAA had written to 29 influential people in the country to appear before the CIAA, and asked the central bank to freeze their lockers. The anti-graft body, which was silent about their involvement in corruption while submitting the summon letter, suspects them of accumulating properties without legal means.
Six ministers of Khilraj Regmi-led election government—Vidhyadhar Mallik, Ram Kumar Shrestha, Chhabiraj Panta, Shankar Koirala, Umakant Jha and Tek Bahadur Gharti—are among the individuals under CIAA scanner. Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s right hand Krishna Bahadur Mahara and lawmaker Lhyarkyal Lama, UML leaders Banshidhar Mishra, Rajendra Pandey, Surendra Pandey, Bijay Poudel, Janardan Dhakal and Ichchharaj Tamang, were also summoned for inquiry.
The CIAA has also put former chief secretary Bhojraj Ghimire, MPs Umesh Shrestha, Bikram Pandey, Baburam Pokharel, Geeta Ran, businessman Raj Kumar Agrawal and civil society leader Kanak Mani Dixit, including a few more bureaucrats and police officers, under the scanner.
