Residents of Kathmandu, which was badly affected by the earthquake of April 25, celebrated the traditional Indra Jatra festival with great zeal and fervour on Sunday.
The Jatra was celebrated by pulling the chariots from areas where cracked and fissured houses still stand with the support of wooden beams.
Indra chok and Basantapur, where the Jatra is celebrated every year, fall under badly affected areas. Despite that, the Indra Jatra which is celebrated by pulling chariots of living-goddess Kumari, Shree Ganesh and Shree Bhairav was celebrated in a magnificent manner and with great enthusiasm.
