DoE tells its subordinate bodies to resume schools
The Department of Education (DoE) has directed all its subordinate bodies to coordinate with the protesters at the local level to create a conducive environment for the operation of schools across the country.The Department of Education (DoE) has directed all its subordinate bodies to coordinate with the protesters at the local level to create a conducive environment for the operation of schools across the country.
Central Coordination Committee on School as Zone of Peace under the DoE on Monday issued a directive to five Regional Directorates and 75 District Education Offices (DEO) to remind the parties at the district and local level about their commitment to keep schools out from politics and protests.
Khangendra Nepal, spokesperson at DoE, said the Committee on School as Zone of Peace at the district level which also has representation of the different political parties should be sincerely work to ensure that the children are not deprived of their education.
Around two dozens political parties, including those who are currently spearheading protests against federal delineation in various Tarai districts, had agreed not to hamper the study of students at any pretext on May 25, 2011. They had also vowed not to involve students in protests or other political activities.
However, over 3.2 million students from various parts of the country have been deprived of education owing to the ongoing protests.
Four dozen felicitated
JAJARKOT: The District Education Office in Jajarkot has honoured four dozen people on the occasion of 36th Education Day.
Five people, including Satrughan Prasad Chaudhary, a teacher of Jugathapachaur-based Birendra Aishwarya Higher Secondary and Asha Shah of Euri-based Ramjanaki Primary School, were facilitated with national prize in the programme. Likewise, 11 teachers were also honoured for their long service.
District Education Officer Bishnu Narayan Shrestha said the teachers were awarded for their contribution to increasing the quality of education in the district.
