Mutual interest are interdependent and interlined in today’s world, and it shapes peace, security and development, he said at an interaction in the Capital on Monday.
There are no any issues or problems that cannot be resolved through engagement and dialogue, the Indian envoy said, adding that both sides need to up the level of engagement in every sector.
“What ever the issues, we should sit together and have an open discussion,” said Rae.
During the programme, leaders from different political parties stressed the need to build common views to make Nepal-India relations more effective and beneficial.
The leaders said that maintaining common views the cultural, political and diplomatic fronts would further strengthen the bilateral relations between Nepal and India.
They also said that the misunderstandings that surface sometimes between the two countries could be resolved from the diplomatic level.
General Secretary of the Nepali Congress Krishna Prasad Sitaula said that Nepal and India enjoy special relations and that Nepalis should benefit from this.
CPN-UML leader KP Sharma Oli said the relations between the two countries would be beneficial for Nepal’s development and emphasised that the existing mutual ties should be strengthened. Member of Foreign Department Cell of UCPN (Maoist) Ram Karki advised both India and China to engage less in Nepal’s internal affairs.
Vice Chairman of CPN-Maoist CP Gajurel said his party was not against India. “We just want to work according to our national interest,” he said.
Former Foreign and Finance Minister Prakash Chandra Lohani said that foundation of Nepal- India relations are based on political, economic and cultural bonds.
