‘But Still, We Rise’ to be restaged
Sign language interpretation will be available during the performance.Post Report
‘But Still, We Rise’ will be restaged at Shilpee Theatre, Battisputali, on December 27 and 28. The play was first performed at the Women of the World Nepal 2024 Festival.
A majority of the performers identify as differently abled and belong to the LGBTIQA+ community. The play sheds light on the struggles and triumphs of women from marginalised groups, including women with disabilities, queer women, and indigenous women.
Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu, Sunita Dangol, said, “It was such a powerful performance. By the end of the show, there wasn’t a single person in the audience without dewy eyes. It is a play that we can relate to on multiple levels.”
Tickets are Rs300 for students and theatre artists and Rs500 for general audiences. However, people with disability cards can get free tickets.
Sign language interpretation will be available during the performance. However, wheelchair-accessible toilets are unavailable at the venue, though facilities are accessible across the street.
