Post Report
The mascot and logo for the 10th National Games were revealed on Tuesday with the country’s biggest sporting event all set to take place on the amended date.
Minister for Youth and Sports Teju Lal Chaudhary and National Sports Council vice-chairman Dhruba Acharya made public the mascot and logo, respectively, at the ANFA Complex in Satdobato, Lalitpur.
While the mascot and logo were revealed in Kathmandu, they were prepared by the Karnali Sports Development Council (KSDC), the hosts.
Bikash Tamakhu had designed the mascot, a red panda, and the logo, according to KSDC.
“We have a red panda, one of the endangered wildlife species found in Karnali, as the mascot,” read a statement by KSDC.
As for the logo, the light blue colour around the pigeon, the symbol of peace, represents the Karnali River. The seven stripes represent seven provinces while the national flag is also visible.
“We request all the stakeholders to unite to make the 10th National Games a grand success,” said Minister Chaudhary, citing that the date would not be amended again.
Likewise, NSC member-secretary Tanka Lal Ghising also inaugurated a dedicated website for the 10th National Games to be held in Karnali Province from April 17 to 24. The date was fixed after the authorities failed to organise the most important domestic tournament on two different dates.
First slated for November last year, the tournament was rescheduled for April 2025 before the authorities decided on May. The authorities even tried organising the event in February, but failed.
NSC has informed that players, officials and staff can register themselves for the event through the dedicated website.
