Aman Panthi completed a hat-trick as Chauraha registered their second consecutive victory in the Dhangadi Cricket League (DCL)-3 at the SSP grounds on Tuesday.
While Chauraha overcame Campus Road by four wickets in the first match of the day, Sunil Dhamala’s explosive half century gave Santoshi Tole a 36-run victory over Attariya.
The day belonged to young leg-spinner Panthi who came up with his second man-of-the-match performance in as many games bundling out Campus Road for 71 in 20 overs. Chauraha recovered from early hiccups before reaching 72-6 in 15.2 overs.
Chauraha lost opener Padam KC and Yogendra Karki for ducks in the third over to Lalit Rajbanshi before another opener Bipin Rawal and Dipendra Thapa resurrected the chase. KC made 24 off 32 and Thapa chipped in 23 off 28. Both hit three fours.
Chauraha did lose both the set batsmen but by then the game was safe for them. Santosh Bhatt took 3-8 from four overs for Campus Road.
Earlier, Campus Road were already struggling at 14-3 before Panthi starred with back-to-back dismissals of Chandra Saud, Lokesh Chand and Bhandari reducing them to 20-6 in 7.5 overs. Rajan Sherchan (23) and Bhatt (22) helped Campus Road cross 50-run mark.
Apart from Panthi, Karki and Sonu Tamang also picked up two wickets each for Campus Road. Bhuwan Karki returned with the envious figures of 1-6 from four overs.
In the second game of the day, a half century from Dhamala lifted Santoshi Tole to 148-6 in 20 overs and three wickets each from Prakash Karki and Tekendra Bohora squeezed out Attariya for just 112 runs in 19.5 overs. National team allrounder Mehboob Alam smashed a 14-ball 26 for Attariya with four fours and a six.
Opener Surendra Chand also made 26 from 24 with three fours and a six, while Hikmat Shetty (16) and Shailesh Khadayat (10) also made runs in double figures. Amit Budha also had two scalps for Santoshi Tole.
Dhamala was at the heart of Santoshi Tole innings as he did the bulk of scoring in a 65-run second wicket stand with Yubaraj Thapa (10). Man-of-the-match Dhamala hit nine fours and a six in his 44-ball 59 before Alam got rid of him.
Naresh Budhayer (14) and Amit Shahu (15 not out) pushed the team towards a challenging total. Gyanendra Kunwar took 2-15 from four overs for Attariya.
On Thursday, Hasanpur will take on Campus Road and Chauraha will be up against Santoshi Tole.
