With the win, African Club, which also won the Budha Subba Gold Cup a fortnight ago, were rewarded with Rs 2,00,000. Runners-up Samrat Sporting of Morang received Rs 1,00,000. Saheed Aziz provided African United the 32nd minute lead. He capitalised on a pass from captain Victor to score from inside the area. Aba Cedric doubled the tally in the 78th minute.
Despite fielding top-tier players Bhola Silwal, Yugal Kishor Rai and Nishan Limbu, Samrat Sporting failed to challenge the assembled African Team. African United were on the offense from the start and after taking the first half lead they kept their defense tight to deny the Samrat Sporting any opportunity to score. The Nepal Police Club midfielder Silwal, however, missed a couple of chances.
Cedric, who was named the most valuable player of the tournament, received a cheque of Rs 10,000. Martins of Dharan and Segun Akinade of African United finished as the joint highest scorers.
