A landslide triggered by heavy rainfall has blocked the Kanti Highway at Gangate in Bhimphedi Rural Municipality, disrupting traffic in both directions.
According to the District Police Office, Makawanpur, debris fell from the hillside at around 5pm on Friday, obstructing the road.
Vehicles travelling from Kathmandu towards Hetauda have been halted near the Bagmati bridge, while those heading towards Kathmandu are stranded at Thingan.
The landslide site is around six kilometres northeast of the Thingan Area Police Office.
Authorities said clearance work is underway to reopen the route.
