Two houses destroyed in Nuwakot fire

A fire on Tuesday in Jalkuni, ward 1 of Kakani Rural Municipality, destroyed two houses, burning cash, jewellery, crops, clothing, and household items.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Bikram Lama of the District Police Office, Nuwakot, said the fire started in Balram Balami’s home and spread to a neighbouring house.
“The blaze, caused by an electrical fault, destroyed two houses, including Rs1 million in cash, jewellery worth Rs2.5 million, and crops and utensils valued at Rs1.8 million,” Lama said. He added that villagers and security personnel prevented casualties among people and livestock.
Kakani Rural Municipality has arranged temporary shelters for the affected families, while the district administration has recommended cash support and aid through the Nuwakot Red Cross branch.
