Police on Wednesday arrested one more Chinese national in connection with the recent gold smuggling bust in Dolakha.

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) arrested Sagar Lama, alias Tashi Dawa, a local of the Sichuan Province, from Kimadol in Kathmandu-15 for his alleged involvement in the crime. The arrestee is suspected of being the mastermind behind the smuggling of the precious metal.

On Tuesday, the CIB arrested three suspects including one Chinese citizen from Swayambhu for allegedly smuggling 11kgs of gold. Lama was arrested on the basis of the statements of the arrestees. So far, 11 people have been arrested in connection with the case.

Police had confiscated the smuggled metal from Jamune and Lamabagar of Bigu Rural Municipality in three different instances on September 27, 29, and 30. The gold was smuggled into Nepal via China’s Rongjia border crossing.
