Three people have gone missing after the vehicle they were travelling in plunged into the Sunkoshi River on Friday.

The jeep, headed towards Khotang from Kathmandu, met with the accident in Laukun of Golanjor Rural Municipality-7 at midday on Friday.

Three CTEVT officers and a driver were aboard the ill-fated vehicle. They were travelling to Khotang to inspect a technical school, the CTEVT office said.

CTEVT directors Krishna KC and Yam Prasad Bhurtel and technical officer Bhanu Poudel are among the missing.

According to Superintendent of Police Rajkumar Silwal, the jeep’s driver Krishna Chaudhary managed to escape the accident after jumping off the vehicle.

Chaudhary is undergoing treatment at the Sukhet-based Shubha Jeewan Hospital, police said.

Search for the missing is underway.
