Prabhu Sah—who emerged victorious in the 2022 federal poll from Rautahat-3 as an independent candidate—launched the Aam Janata Party on Thursday.
An extended meeting of the party held in Kathmandu has formed a 51-member ad hoc central committee under Sah’s chairmanship. According to the press statement, the ‘campaign to elect the independent candidates’ in the 2022 major elections has now been transformed into a new party.
The meeting also appointed the provincial chairs and incharges of the party.
The responsibility of the party’s sister organisations and departments has been assigned as well. Kiran Sah, who won the federal poll from Rautahat-2 as an independent candidate, has become the Chief of the Parliamentary Department.
The party has formed a three-member talks team for unification and cooperation with the progressive powers, the press statement states. The team incorporates Upendra Sah, Ramprit Ram and Islam Hawari as members.
