Government changes three provincial chiefs
Parshuram Khapung, Tilak Pariyar and Dev Raj Joshi appointed chiefs of Province 1, Karnali and Sudurspaschim, respectively.Post Report
The Sher Bahadur Deuba government on Monday appointed new provincial chiefs in Province 1, Karnali and Sudurpaschim.
According to Cabinet sources, Parshuram Khapung has been appointed provincial chief of Province 1, Tilak Pariyar has been appointed provincial chief of Karnali and Dev Raj Joshi has been appointed provincial chief of the Sudurpaschim.
Khapung has been appointed under the Janata Samajbadi Party quota, Pariyar from the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) and Joshi from the Nepali Congress quota.
Khapung has replaced Somnath Adhikari in Province 1, Pariyar has replaced Govinda Kolauni in Karnali and Joshi has replaced Ganga Prasad Yadav in Sudurpaschim, respectively.
Similarly, the Cabinet also decided to provide compensation to the kin of those who were killed in the Motipur incident in Rupandehi.
At least four people were killed and more than two dozen injured in a clash between police personnel and landless squatters at the under-construction Motipur Industrial Area in Rupandehi district on October 10. Each family will receive Rs 550,000, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs. The decision was made by Monday's cabinet meeting.
