After suspending him as party chair the Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal faction of the Nepal Communist Party has sought clarification from the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on why he should not be suspended as the party’s general member.
“Comrade, you have been suspended as the party chair by the third full central committee meeting for seriously injuring the country and the party by dissolving the House of Representatives,” states the clarification letter which was registered at the prime minister’s official residence at Baluwatar on Monday by leaders Shreeram Dhakal and Surendra Pandey. “Even after being removed as party chair you have been violating the party’s decision and continued anti-party activities presenting yourself as party chair and therefore the Standing Committee meeting of January 15 has decided to seek clarification on why you should not be relieved as party’s general member.”
The letter signed by Dahal and Nepal has sought the clarification within three days and has also stated that further action would be taken if the clarification is not furnished within the deadline.
Oli was suspended from the party chair by the Central Committee meeting of the Dahal-Nepal faction on December 22 and the same meeting had decided to elevate senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal as party chair replacing Oli.
