Govt, Morcha talks positive; govt to move ahead with constitution amendment proposal

According to Tarai Madhes Sadbhawana Party leader Ram Naresh Raya Yadav, who was present during the talks held at Foreign Ministry in the Capital today, the government has shown positive response towards the five preconditions put forth by the Madhes-centric parties.
Law Minister Agni Prasad Kharel, who is also a member of the government talks team, said the government has agreed to move ahead with the constitution amendment proposal as demanded by the agitating Madhes-centric parties.
The government has sought four days to come up with a solid decision regarding the demands of Madhesi front.
When asked about the Madhes-centric parties intention about joining the voting process for the election of president and vice-president, the Morcha leaders said they would not join the election.
Similarly, the government proposal to move ahead with Federal Commission for state demarcation was denied by Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party leader Hridayesh Tripathi s, it is learnt.
The next official meeting of the government and the Morcha will be held on Thursday, sources informed.
Also during the talks, the government urged the Morcha to be serious towards ongoing fuel crisis triggered by the ‘unofficial blockade’ imposed by India citing unrest in Nepal-India borders. In response, the Madhesi leaders said they were in no mood to change their forms of protest immediately.
