Armed Police Force Additional Inspector General Banshiraj Dahal has been dismissed following an investigation into his conduct, Home Ministry spokesperson Ananda Kafle said.
An investigation committee led by AIG Anjani Kumar Pokharel submitted its report to the ministry on Thursday. The report concluded that Dahal had engaged in conduct contrary to established standards and recommended disciplinary action under the Armed Police Force Regulation.
Section 110 of the regulation provides for disciplinary penalties, divided into ordinary and special punishments.
Special punishments include removal from service without disqualification from future government employment, and dismissal that disqualifies the individual from future government service.
Dahal was accused of visiting former chief justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana on the morning of September 27 without obtaining permission.
Citing security concerns surrounding Rana, the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office had brought him from his residence to the police office late at night. Dahal, who is also a ‘relative’ to Rana, subsequently went to the police office to meet him.
Dahal was suspended, and an investigation was launched over the visit.
