20 Ugandan women held from Thamel over harassment complaints

Police have arrested 20 Ugandan women from Thamel in Kathmandu on charges of sexually harassing people in the tourist area.
The District Police Range, Bhadrakali, said the women were arrested during a security check at Thamel Firechowk in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-26 following complaints.
The arrestees are charged with stopping, sexually harassing and bargaining with domestic and foreign visitors on the street. Police said the women have been booked on charges of public misconduct.
The Police Circle, Lainchaur, is investigating the case after the District Administration Office, Kathmandu granted a 12-day remand.
Those held included Nafuna Brenda, 34, Nandut Hajarah, 36, Kirabo Prossu, 30, Tushemerirwe Silivia, 40, Margret Kalule Nabunnya, 30, Nakalembe Hasifa, 36, Tumusume Grace, 30, Hagawa Hadijah, 36, Nakimsra Shadia, 25, Mbabzi Daphyne, 28, Ampeire Shifrah, 25, Nandubu Behy, 45, Nambozu Franscica, 38, Kahama Hajarah Bakmulisa, 34, Nimusiima Macklean, 24, Nakato Benankanjko, 36, Nanyanzi, 40, Nattu Kasita, 42, Nhumansi Rbinanh, 23, and Nalwadda Specioza, 44.
