While vote counts have begun in most constituencies across the country, counting has yet to start in Sankhuwasabha, Mugu and Gorkha-1 due to delays in transporting ballot boxes from remote polling centres.
Election officials said ballot boxes from Sankhuwasabha and Gorkha have now been brought to the counting centres by helicopter.
In Mugu, however, ballot boxes from the Dolphu and Mugugaun polling stations are still being carried by people to the counting centre. Chief Election Officer Min Bahadur Kunwar said the boxes are being transported on foot after coordination for a helicopter failed.
“If the ballot boxes arrive by 1pm, we will start counting from 2pm,” Kunwar said.
Officials in Gorkha and Sankhuwasabha said all ballot boxes have now reached the counting centres after weather disruptions delayed their arrival on Friday, and preparations are underway to begin counting after all-party meetings.
