Indefinite curfew imposed in Birgunj after clash
Administration cites security concerns; movement and gatherings banned.Post Report
An indefinite curfew has been imposed in Birgunj of Parsa district following a clash between two youth groups on Sunday evening.
The District Administration Office, Parsa, said the curfew was enforced from 9:45am on Monday until further notice, citing the deteriorating security situation.
The order applies within Birgunj Metropolitan City. Chief District Officer Bhola Dahal said the curfew covers the area from Bypass Road in the east to the Sirsiya river in the west, Gandak Chowk in the north and Shankaracharya Gate in the south.
Movement, gatherings, rallies, demonstrations, meetings and sit-ins have been prohibited within the designated area.
However, vehicles providing essential services, journalists, students appearing in pre-scheduled university examinations, examination staff, tourist vehicles, and vehicles belonging to human rights organisations and diplomatic missions are allowed to operate.
The office said security personnel will facilitate the movement of air passengers on the basis of valid air tickets.
