A clash broke out between two groups in ward 6 of Gaur Municipality in Rautahat on Friday.
Police fired dozens of rounds of tear gas to bring the situation under control. A large number of security personnel have been deployed in the area. Some security personnel were injured in the incident.
Chief District Officer Dinesh Sagar Bhusal said the clash erupted over a dispute related to a wedding procession. “Efforts are underway to normalise the situation,” he said. “We are trying to persuade both sides.”
Tension escalated after a group hurled bricks and stones during the wedding ceremony.
