Police on Tuesday arrested Dharmendra Bastola, general secretary of the Communist Party of Nepal (Bahumat), from the Sundhara area.
A team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, detained him, Senior Superintendent of Police Santosh Khadka said. The party’s Kavre secretary Bishnu Prasad Timsina was also arrested.
The party had called a strike on Tuesday opposing the March 5 elections, but the protest had little impact.
“Since they spread fear among the public and disrupted public service delivery, we have taken them into custody for investigation,” Khadka said. “They will be handed over to the District Police Range, Kathmandu, to proceed with the case.”
