The Road Division Office in Jumla has reopened the Nagma–Gamgadhi road after clearing heavy snowfall using a bulldozer.
More than one and a half feet of snow had accumulated in the Saatmaad section of the road, disrupting the movement of both small and large vehicles. With traffic halted, residents of Mugu were forced to walk through the snow to travel.
Mugu’s Chief District Officer Khadananda Khatri said snow was cleared along nearly three kilometres of the road. “We searched for a bulldozer in Mugu but could not find one. After coordinating with the Road Division Office, we brought a dozer from Jumla and began clearing the road,” he said.
According to Khatri, small vehicles are now operating smoothly, though large vehicles still face some difficulty. “Some large vehicles had to be pulled by the dozer and sent towards Jumla. Since the snow has now been fully cleared, there are no major problems,” he said.
With the resumption of traffic, the road is now fully operational.
Meanwhile, passengers have urged authorities to keep dozers on standby on both sides of the road during the snowfall season. Citing the Meteorological Forecasting Division’s warning of possible further snowfall, they have asked for arrangements to ensure uninterrupted travel.
